Utah Woman Arrested For Allegedly Killing 6 Infants, One Infant Stillborn
Megan Huntsman, a 39-year-old Pleasant Grove, UT. resident, has been arrested seven dead infants’ bodies were found in a home. Officials said she allegedly gave birth to six of the children and killed each one. With the seventh infant, they believe it was a stillborn.
Police responded after residents cleaning out the garage at 530 E. 200 found what they thought was a dead infant in a container. Police discovered the child had been born full-term. They got a search warrant for the residence and found six other infants’ bodies. Each infant had its own “package”, which was a cardboard box.
During the investigation, police learned information that during a period of 10 years, Huntsman gave birth to each one and killed them.
Huntsman is in the Utah County Jail, facing six counts of murder. Again, one child is considered stillborn and does not get the charge.
Huntsman moved from the Pleasant Grove home in 2011, which she shared with her now-estranged husband Darren West. He served nine years on drug distribution charges in federal prison.
Police said West’s parents owned the home; they took care of it while their son was behind bars and Huntsman lived in the home.
West came back Saturday to clean it out. When he and the other people helping him found a box, they were overcome by the smell and opened the box. There, they found a dead baby.
Police said Huntsman lived in that home with three of her own children as well as West’s children. All these children are in their teens today.
Police have search warrants for the case, which includes on for her West Valley City home.
