SiriusXM Offers 100+ New Streaming Channels To Subscribers
SiriusXM users were recently notified that the company had added more than 100 new, curated music channels to the streaming platform. The company calls is Xtra Channels, which will be commercial-free streams that are offered on various devices, the app and web player. Subscribers of the All Access and Premier Streaming services are eligible to enjoy the extra music.
Along with the App, SiriusXM trial users and subscribers can tune into channel 4 – SiriusXM Spotlight throughout March to listen to the music being offered in the new streaming line.
The new lineup of music makes it the company’s largest channel expansion so far with the new additions with now more than 300 channels for users to tune into. Along with the new digital channels, the company has added a skip-ahead function and are customized to fit various activities and moods. Some of the channels customers can now listen to include “80s on 8 Workout,” “BPM Workout,” “90s on 9 Dance,” “Today’s Country BBQ,” and “Highway Top Hits.”
Sirius has come up with a Discovery category similar to its competitors. However, the company’s Discovery channels are developed by personalities and programmers from other radio stations such as The Heat, Alt Nation, The Highway and SiriusXM Hits 1.
According to General Manager for Music Programming and Senior Vice President Steve Blatter, the new 100+ commercial-free channels means SiriusXM can give subscribers even more variety to choose from and listen to. H said the new channels are a mix of the older SiriusXM channels subscribers love but with new versions that match their listeners’ activities, moods and tastes. He said the company developed channels that would satisfy demands of mixing SiriusXM channels together so users would have a better-curated experience.
Blatter said SiriusXM hopes the new channels will lead to more attention for its streaming service and give listeners something valuable.
SiriusXM’s announcement comes just after it announced it was acquiring Pandora Media for a price tag of $3.5 billion. With the acquisition, SiriusXM is now the largest audio entertainment company. This new music lineup is the first change to occur after the merger was finalized on Feb. 1.
