Singapore Celebrates Grand Prix Season with a Bang
The air is filled with excitement as the Grand Prix Season draws near in the City of Merlions. The Grand Prix Season is set to be held on September 17 to 26, 2010. The more than a week long celebration will be welcomed with parties, a series of art exhibitions all around the city and of course, that not-to-be-missed evening race.
The Singapore Night Race is said to be one of the highlights of the Grand Prix Season in Singapore. The race will be held right in the middle of the city. For car racers, this is a unique experience where they can actually race in the exciting city streets, something that they can never do in ordinary days. And to add to all these hype and excitement are the many other Grand Prix related activities that are scheduled to happen all across the city on the duration of the festivities.
According to the Director of the Singapore Tourist Board, Mr. Chew Tiong Heng, this year is going to be different and grander with the opening of the Marina Nay Sands, where varied activities are scheduled to take place. This time, the festival is not just for the Grand Prix fans and the racers but for the shopaholics and party goers as well. It’s going to be an event to remember for all Singaporeans and tourists alike.
Last year, Singapore’s Grand Prix Season was recorded to have attracted over 90,000 visitors and spectators including over 30,000 foreigners. The event generated almost $93 million from the tourism economy alone. And with the kind of preparations the government and the private sectors are doing, this year is expected to be even bigger and grander.
International names are reported to line up the parties and events including Mariah Carey, Missy Elliot, Adam Lambert and so many more.
