Sad Ending: 12 Year Old Body Found In Recycle Bin, Two Teenagers Charged With Murder
Authorities have confirmed that the body found inside a Clayton recycling container is, in fact, the missing New Jersey girl Autumn Pasquale. And, two teenager brothers have been charged with her murder.
Sean Dalton, Gloucester County prosecutor, said Pasquale’s body was found in a bin near her home about 10 p.m. Monday. It was located near where thousands of folks have gathered that evening for a candlelight vigil at Borough Hall. Pasquale, 12, was last seen riding her bike around noon Saturday.
Dalton said the investigation into the death was just beginning when the boys’ mother came forward with information that came from one of her son’s Facebook account. The evidence then led police to the boys. Found at the home were some of the little girl’s belongings including her bike. However, no evidence suggests she was sexually assaulted. It’s believed she was lured to the house.
One teenage boy is 15, the other teenage boy is 17, and because of their ages, their names are not being released to the public. The boys are charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence and body disposal. The 15-year-old is also facing a luring charge.
In the little town, Tuesday is garbage day and many residents had taken their garbage out the night before. An automated truck picks up the covered recycled bins and dumps the garbage into the back. Police have blocked off the area so that crime scene investigators could gather evidence. Many mothers have kept their children home from school and the school’s Spirit Week was also canceled due to the murder.
According to Dalton, Pasquale had died in a manner that is consistent with strangulation.
Autumn was headed to a friend’s home Saturday. And, it wasn’t until after her 8 p.m. curfew passed that her family – a father, his girlfriend, two siblings and the girlfriend’s children – became worried. A frantic search ensued for the pre-teen girl shortly thereafter with hundreds of volunteers looking for her.
