Nintendo Cautions Wii U Buyers Of Possible Console Damage
Addressing numerous Internet complaints about its Wii U consoles, Nintendo warned users not to turn devices off during a mandatory software update before the process was finished.
According to the company, it can take at least an hour, if not more than, to do the system update. If a user powers down the system during an update, it could cause irreparable damage the system.
The Wii U, which was recently released in the United States, is the company’s first “main” console in six years.
Nintendo’s North America President Reggie Fils-Aime, the company started selling its new console in orders for shoppers to take advantage of it during the Black Friday holiday shopping.
To make the console ready for the U.S. release, Nintendo delayed executing its new TV-viewing service. The company said Amazon Instant Video download service would be downloadable at another time. Hulu Plus was currently released for download. Besides the regular Hulu Plus, there is a “Hulu Kids” category, which includes 43 shows including the latest Nickelodeon episodes. The software update includes the Wii U chat, eShop and Miiverse social network.
Wii U will be released in Australia and Europe on Nov. 30 and on Dec. 8 in Japan.
