Mexico Safe Now for Spring Breakers
So much had been told about the safety of Mexico’s spring break destinations for college students who aim to set parties, in the wake of reports regarding drug-related violence in the some parts of the region.
The University of Houston is one of the colleges that had stressed strong warning to students about the safety of resorts in Mexico for tourists.
This month, the Texas Department of Public Safety issued a statement warning spring breakers from going to Mexico due to ongoing violence. The agency emphasized that violence on drug cartel had become worst in the northern part of Mexico, along with other problems in resort areas such as Acapulco and Cancun. Though the department had recognized that the people who had been traveling to Mexico did not actually face any problems, it still points out that danger should not be ignored. The agency advised travelers to do research of where they are planning to go before going.
However, the U.S. State Department has noted that there are already some statements from travel companies saying that the top spring break spots in Mexico have already made a comeback. The department said a lot of U.S. citizens have been traveling safely to Mexico each year which include those who come for business, tourism and study.
According to StudentUniverse.com, Cancun ranked second this year as the most popular when it comes to international spring break destinations. Last year, it ranked fifth. The other top spots were garnered by Costa Rica, Paris and Puerto Rico.
Another travel company Funjet Vacations stated that the figure of spring breakers that visit Mexico this month has gone up to 15 percent. A lot of these breakers headed to Cancun for its crystal water resorts and white sands.
The list of major destinations visited by students is topped by London and Paris and with Cancun on the third place.
