Man’s Best Friend Saves Children From Flying Bullets
A family is mourning the loss of its beloved pet but thankful for its heroism after the canine jumped in front of one of the children to protect it from a road rage bullet at an Atlanta-area strip mall.
Police are looking for the shooter who fired multiple shots into the vehicle that was loaded with children that lead to the death of the family’s German shepherd who they called Noah.
According to police the woman at a strip mall along Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard when the incident took place. The police report states the driver of a second vehicle had allegedly cut the woman’s Chevy Suburban off. When the woman parked her vehicle, the gunman, in his vehicle, shot at the family and into their vehicle.
The family hit the deck as bullets hit and went through the vehicle’s passenger side. The canine owner side that’s when their German shepherd jumped in front of one child and was hit by the bullet.
A witness to the road rage attack shooting made similar statements about the family and the dog’s act. In surveillance camera footage, the fatally wounded canine was seen walking past a shop. The animal was found behind a building, dead.
Sgt. Gregory Lyon, an Atlanta Police Department spokesperson, said the family has been terrorized by the incident. They survived the ordeal only to learn that their family canine friend died. It’s an especially sad day, especially since it was the day after Thanksgiving.
Lyon said a nearby business and the Suburban were damaged by gunfire, but there were no reported injuries.
Police are looking for a blue-gray Ford Taurus that’s believed to be the vehicle used in the attack.
