Hotel Maid Vs Strauss-Khan Battle Heats Up as the Accuser Goes Public
The ongoing controversy over the Dominique Strauss-Khan vs. a New York hotel maid he was accused of sexually assaulting continues as this time the maid herself has come forward to give her side of the story.
Previously, the maid, had kept her identity a secret under prosecution’s advice but information came from the prosecution’s side that her story lacked credibility thus damaging chances that they would have a conviction against Strauss-Khan.
The entire incident started months ago when Strauss-Khan, then head of the IMF or International Monetary Fund, the largest known group to handle the money of the free world, was pulled off from a 1st Class seat on a jet bound for France. He was detained on charges of assaulting the maid and subsequently arrested under much media spotlight. The news shocked the world as the man with control of the most money on the planet was now sitting in a New York jail cell and looking at spending years behind bars. He lost his position as chief of the IMF and his bid to run for President of France which he was a top contender for. As all that came crashing down around him, more allegations of his sexual misconduct with other women emerged. Stories of affairs and forced sexual attacks, to downright fights with women hit the news. All the while the maid’s story and forensic evidence was being gathered that looked like Strauss-Khan was indeed guilty. The media had only the data given by police and the lawyers for both parties. The maid was said to be an immigrant who leveled the charges against Strauss-Khan. He was later released on bail but told to remain in New York City until following court decisions were meted out.
Then, weeks later, news emerged regarding his accuser, the maid, now identified as Nafissatou Diallo has waived her right to anonymity to defend herself against accusations her story is false and she did everything to get money. Prosecutors had presented information that Diallo had been involved in activities while under protective custody and that her account of what happened that night had far too many bits of conflicting data for them to feel confident about prosecuting Strauss-Khan effectively. That allowed for him to be released from house arrest.
Now, Diallo has appeared before the press in a first, tell all interview with ABC’s Robin Roberts, co-host of Good Morning America television show.
Diallo’s story is still a firestorm and only a full blown out courtroom drama is going to get to the bottom of what really happened. It perplexes the public that weeks after having supposedly done a thorough enough investigation to have detained, arrested, and charged Strauss-Khan, that the prosecutors discover these inconsistencies in her story.
That alone has the public wondering what in the world could have happened. The entire incident now smells like something else is going on that the public doesn’t know about. Questions arise as in has the prosecution been influenced by the powerful financial magnate? That’s how it is appearing and has conspiracy theorists around the globe digging up data as well. This interview on Good Morning America is only going to fuel the fire and that means if and when this all comes to trial it will be one such intense scrutiny that it may take up more television time than any trial in years.
