Haskell “Collapses” In Texas Courtroom Upon Hearing Murder Charges Against Him
When Ronald Lee Haskell was brought before a judge in a Texas courtroom to hear the charges against him on Friday, he fell to the floor – a total opposite of the man who allegedly killed six ex-family members earlier this week.
Two law enforcement officers held onto Haskell for roughly 20 seconds before the 33-year-old was placed on the floor. They place him in a desk chair, wheeling out of the courtroom. He came back just in time to hear the judge set the arraignment date – August 14.
It’s likely that at the August 14 date, he will hear the charges once again for allegedly murdering in cold blood two adults and four children.
According to Texas authorities, Haskell came to the Spring, Texas home, busted his way inside, tied up his ex-wife’s sister Katie, 33, her husband Stephen, 39, and their five kids ranging from 4 to 15, and demanded to know where ex-wife Melannie Haskell was.
When they refused to tell him, he shot them in the back of the head – execution style. The lone survivor of the attack – a 15 year old girl – played dead until Haskell left and immediately called authorities to let them know where he could be headed next. Although she was critically wounded, she’s expected to make a full recovery, despite losing a finger.
The little girl has been credited a hero for being so courageous in calling 911.
Melannie also sought a protection order against her then-husband after he dragged her by her hair and hit her in front of the children at their home in Utah. He was arrested and charged with domestic violence in front of a child and domestic assault. After Haskell got a plea deal, the charges were dropped.
However, Melannie called the Utah police saying Haskell violated the protective order after he threatened her and her lawyer in August 2013. Allegedly he violated it again when he went to the elementary school of one of his children. However, neither violation for the protective order was prosecuted.
