Facebook is changing its privacy settings once again, and if you’re been hiding in its shadows, you won’t be for very much longer.  According to recent announcement from the popular social media website, the company is getting rid of a privacy setting that lets people hide their profiles from other people in the search field.

For some users, the setting “who can look up my timeline by name” is already gone – basically, it’s gone for users who were not even using it last December. According to Facebook, the change will affect a small number of folks who do still use the feature.

Facebook said the tool was no longer valid because website users could be found through other methods:

– Clicking on the name through a mutual friend’s news feed
– Clicking on the name through a mutual friend’s timeline

The popular social media network said people were confused when they couldn’t find someone through search.

This is the latest development in the website’s privacy saga – users have been confused because of the constant changes Facebook has made, along with scandalous statements from Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, who said people posting things they want to keep quiet shouldn’t be doing those things initially.

Not too long ago, Facebook increased the internal search capabilities with its Graph Search, which enables users to look through the website’s information trove to look for “friends who live in their city” or “friends who have visited a particular attraction”, etc.  The move will let Facebook to, in time, compete with websites that rank and rate native attractions.

Facebook said in its privacy settings, users can control the visibility of every one of their posts.
