The most awaited moment finally arrived as Chelsea Clinton wed her heartthrob Marc Mezvinsk in an excessively publicised wedding that was shrouded in mystery, concealed in the backdrop of an isolated and century old estate in a rural New York village.

“Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends,” former president Bill Clinton and present Secretary of State Hillary Clinton announced shortly after their daughter took the plunge.

“On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day,” visibly elated but emotional Clintons said.

Clintons announcement ended speculations and media obsession on the Chelsea Clinton-Marc Mezvinsk relationship and set the stage for one of the most talked about weddings in the recent times.

As the news unfolded the Small town of Rhineback buzzed with reported sightings of celebrities from show business and key democrats from the political front, with names of the privileged 500 invitees still being speculated and debated. However it now seems that neither Steven Spielberg nor Oprah Winfrey made it as rumoured initially. The list of fortunate attendees is said to include ex US secretary of state Madeleine Albright, movie producer Steve Bing and actress Mary Steenburgen. Leading designer Vera Wang, proud architect of Chelsea Clinton’s wedding dress, was also reportedly seen at the ceremony.

The wedding took place at Astor Courts, a Beaux Arts building, it was one of the last buildings designed by the well renowned American architect, Stanford White.  The ceremony was reportedly conducted by a rabbi and reverend as it involved a Methodist bride and Jewish groom.

Although US tabloids raved on what they even tagged as “wedding of the century” the press and paparazzi were shielded from the real event with roads in Rhineback closed on Saturday. To top it, the Federal Aviation Administration declared the wedding zone a no-fly zone for a brief period, to prevent any notion of flying paparazzi.

Chelsea Clinton and Marc Merzvink first met in 1993 at a conference and it was no love at first sight. The friendship continued when they pursued studies at Stanford University and it was not until a decade has passed the friendship took a romantic twist.

Marc, an investment banker, works at G3 Capital, and the academically gifted Chelsea just finished her Masters in Public Health Columbia University.  Marc Mezvinsky is also son of former Democratic politicians and long-standing friends of the Clintons.
