AT&T Removes Controversial 9-11 Picture Tweet

AT&T tweeted a picture of a smartphone user taking a picture of New York City’s Tribute in Light memorial to commemorate the 12th anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

However, an hour after its post, the company removed it and apologized because social media users accused the company of trying to capitalize on the devastating event by promoting its products.  Many Twitters called the move “tacky” and “ill-timed” for promoting their products.

The company tweeted another message, apologizing to people who believed the post was in bad taste. The image, they said, was just meant to give respect to people who were affected by the 9-11 tragedy. Users of Twitters were not impressed by the company’s apology and called it insincere.
