Troubled Actress Lindsay Lohan Likely to Accept a Plea Deal
Twenty-four-year-old Lindsay Lohan had been given an extension by a judge until March 25 to consider accepting a plea deal in line with the charge of stealing a $2,500 necklace from a jewelry store in Los Angeles in January. The deal will most probably land the actress in jail.
Judge Keith Schwartz of the Los Angeles Superior Court set the extension to give the attorney of Lohan and prosecutors enough time. A preliminary hearing is slated to start in April 22 in case parties still cannot reach a deal and they will be facing in front of another judge to examine if there is sufficient evidence for the case to be set to trial. They will face before Judge Stephanie Sautner.
The new judge will decide if the alleged theft of Lohan has certain violations of the terms of her probation on conviction related to drink driving and drugs. This conviction would mean actually that Lohan will be returned to jail for a fourth time since she was initially convicted.
When Lohan reached the courthouse, she was in her black leggings and a tan sweater dress, which seemed contrasting to what she usually wear in her court appearance previously that had gained some criticism for being potentially too much revealing.
The way she dressed up herself in court had been scrutinized since she made an appearance with an expletive painted in her fingernails.
The actress, who had been rehabilitated at the Betty Ford Center and had seriously decided to focus on work, had been into so many struggles with drug abuse and alcohol which had caused her career to fall in recent years.
The former Disney star, if proven guilty of the theft allegation, will stay in jail for three years.
Lohan was once in the peak of her career as she starred the 2003 film “Freaky Friday” and 2004’s Mean Girls. However, she lost a chance for a lead role in “Inferno”, a biographical film about Linda Lovelace, because of her recent trip to rehab.
