Twitter To Introduce Voice Feature On iOS
When Twitter was first introduced to the world in March 2006, there were only 140 characters available to get a message across. Eventually, the social media site expanded its tweet capacity to allow images and increasing its character count to 280.
Today, the site is offering spoken words as an option.
Anyone who uses the app on iOS will be able to record their voice, which will automatically run them into numerous tweets. For now, the option is only offered in iOS and for a limited number of users. The option shows up as a waveform button when a person is trying to create a new tweet. All users need to do is press the waveform button and start talking.
Every tweet will allow for 140 characters of audio, but users can talk beyond that. The app will create new tweets to handle the recording. Users can listen to the voice tweets through the playback bar in the app.
Twitter makes no mention of its plans for an Android version at this time. Therefore, the feature is an iOS-only option, and while limited now will eventually be available to anyone with an iOS device.
It may not be long before the option for Android voice tweets to be offered, but it may not have the option to create recordings or the button bar functionality. For the time being, Android users will just have to listen to iOS friends talk on Twitter
