Facebook Acquires Shopping Search Site TheFind In Undisclosed Amount
Popular social networking website Facebook has turned its attention towards the e-commerce market, with the acquisition of TheFind, a start-up shopping search site based in Mountain View, Calif. While a deal has been reached, terms have not been made public.
TheFind, which began in 2006, lets shoppers look through hundreds of different websites for various products simultaneously. The company is thrilled about becoming a part of the Facebook group, posting the information in big letters on its homepage.
The company said it’s worked hard to bring customers an efficient, easy shopping experience – searching all Internet stores to locate the product they need or want. It went on to say it was starting the next chapter of its company by teaming up with Facebook to bring even more to consumers.
The company said key team members would become a part of Facebook’s team. It also noted that users of the website would be unable to use the shopping searchers for much longer as the search engine would be taken offline in the next several weeks.
In order to bring a positive light to its regular users, the company said the platform and resources Facebook has offers TheFind a chance to better their expertise in product sourcing to the more than one billion people using it.
According to analysts, Facebook and TheFind could mean that Facebook users will see ads that are more relevant to the products they’re clicking on, checking out or searching for through the Internet.
