Netflix Confirms It’s Not Cancelling Popular Drama Show
It’s all a hoax! For fans of the popular Netflix drama “Orange is the New Black”, the hour and half, on July 11, they learned the show was “cancelled” was excruciating. But, good news fans! Netflix is NOT going to cancel the show!
It began when satirical website Empire News posted an article that said Netflix decided to cancel the show, which features what life is like in a women’s prison.
If readers of the Empire News had done a little more reading into the article, they would have realized they were being “taken for a ride”. Star Kate Mulgrew said there is no truth at all regarding the show’s cancellation hoax.
The article allegedly quoted the Netflix CEO Reed Hastings saying the company regretted telling Netflix subscribes that the show was permanently cancelled due to a falling out with the show’s creator Jenji Kohan. And, that starting on Sept. 1, 2014, previous episodes of the show would not be available for streaming.
The show’s official Twitter page took up the issue saying, “Orange Is The New Black has NOT been canceled. Whoever started this rumor will be spending some time in the SHU.
However, Netflix, in an effort to prove it wasn’t going to cancel the show, posted a picture of characters Tasty and Crazy Eyes on the set, filming season 3 and reassuring fans that the show was definitely going to make another appearance.
The second season of the show was released at the start of June with the third season given a thumbs up for starting production.
Mulgrew noted on her official Facebook account that whoever began their rumor would “spend some time in the SHU”.
