As Playstation 4 and Xbox One Hit the Market, Consumers Wonder Which to Buy
As Sony’s Playstation 4 (PS 4) and Microsoft’s Xbox One (Xbox 1) hit the shelves in time for the Christmas shopping season, shoppers are trying to make the decision as to which choice is the best to make.
Sony’s PS 4 was released for sale on November 15 in North America and with a November 29 release date for Europe and Australia.
Microsoft’s Xbox 1 was released November 22 in North America, Australia, New Zealand, and some markets in Europe.
Both represent the future of gaming among other perks.
The PS 4 is more for the hardcore gaming crowd as opposed to the Microsoft Xbox 1. With its robust computing power, the PS 4 makes games look better than ever before. This is not to mention the aesthetics of the PS 4 with its sleek design that is in some cases more appealing than the Xbox’s box-like structure.
The drawback is that many of the games compatible with the PS 4 won’t be released until next year.
However, Microsoft acknowledges that the PS 4 is targeted towards the serious gamers. Microsoft puts the focus on its Xbox 1 product as more of a home multimedia experience rather than just for strictly gaming.
The price is where consumers will find the PS 4 attractive as it is about $100 USD less than the Xbox 1.
Sony’s PS 4 doesn’t just focus on gamers however. You can also use it for Netflix, Hulu Plus, or just listen to music through the company’s Music Unlimited.
On the other hand, Microsoft’s Xbox 1 not only is powerful for games but you can also watch television through its HDMI input and use DLNA for streaming input such as music through other devices.
What increases the price with the Xbox 1 is its Kinect Camera which is a sophisticated device that allows users to control the device without having to touch a controller. Thus, with this feature, the owner can search for music or movies, change television cable channels, and even initiate Skype calls all through gestures and voice commands.
