Obama Unconcerned With Political Fallout With ACA Law
Jay Carney, White House press secretary, said President Barack Obama isn’t worried about any political fallout stemming from the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) because he feels confident that the law will, in the end, benefit his allies.
Carney said Obama’s attention is on the promises of the law and isn’t concerned with the politics that go along with it. He said it’s not that Obama is ignoring the situation’s politics. Rather, Obama is more concerned with the delivery of access to quality, affordable healthcare… a policy that will make for good politics. Obama, Carney said, was more focused on making good policy, something supporters can fully appreciate.
Obama along with senior aides and Vice President Joe Biden spent time with concerned Senate Democrats about their chances for re-election in 2014. They’re worried that issues with the law’s rollout could significantly hurt their chances.
Carney reminded folks that Obama’s campaign was on healthcare reform both in 2008 and 2012 and won, noting that the law is politically beneficial.
