Trader Joe Frozen Butter Chicken and Rice Being Recalled
Canadian and U.S. officials have recalled nearly 4,900 pounds of frozen butter chicken and rice that were sent to Trader Joe stores due to a potential Listeria contamination.
According to the Food Safety and Inspection Service of the U.S. Agriculture Department, a public warning is being used after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency as well as Aliva’s Foods Ltd. recalled the product being brought in from Canada.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service have verified the U.S. companies that have received these shipments and have removed them from their shelves. The recall affects the following boxes: 12.5 ounces Trader Joe’s Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice with lot code 30512 and product code 2012-10-31. It is a ready-to-eat product, which subjects it to pathogen testing due to the zero tolerance by
19 cartons of the product are being held at the distribution center with 240 cartons having been dispersed to Trader Joe’s retail stores. The company has reached out to those stores to remove them from the shelves.
