Leaked Photo Shows Layout Changes to Nintendo Wii U Controller

From a photograph that was uploaded by a tester on Twitter, it can be seen that the design of the Nintendo Wii U controller had been altered. The main change is that the controller has two analog sticks instead of circle pads on the top right and left corner.

Matt Boosh, the British developer for TT Games was the tester and he uploaded pictures on his personal Twitter account. The Tweet has since been removed, but the pictures of the Wii U controller can still be found in the Internet. The photo clearly shows that the controller is adjusted by Nintendo and looks a little different than the presentation of the console at E3 in 2011.

The controller at that presentation was equipped with two circle pads, as also found on the 3DS but in the latest leaked photos it is featured with analogue buttons. Furthermore, the placement of the buttons is slightly modified. For example, the Start and Select-buttons under the display are moved to the right of the display. There are two square areas on the picture, under the d-pad and between the power button and the battery indicator. There is no indication what these buttons do.

Nintendo is expected to have more information about the Nintendo Wii U before the end of 2012. Plus, the console will again be shown at E3 this year.
